Cocopie is no more! Domain change time~!

If you haven't noticed already, I changed the name of my site last week! It has changed from "cocopie.neocities.org" to "blumchen.cafe". Why the change? Well to put it simply, I really grew sick of my old site name, as it was derived from "Cocogal" which was the name of my site when it was gyaru(manba) style. "cocopie" doesn't really mean anything, I just thought it sounded cute at the time and didn't know what to call my website. The new name - blumchen - means little flower in German (well, technically it's blümchen but neocities doesn't allow special characters lol) and I thought it suited the site much better, and sounded fresh + sweet. I also have a custom domain .cafe which I basically picked because a cafe is a calm, cute place filled with the smell of fresh cookies, where you are free to hangout and relax ( ´ ∀ `)ノ～ ♡ If anyone is wondering, I am NOT German myself, I am Aussie, but I am fascinated with foreign cultures and think German is such a cute language!! You will probably see some site development over the next few days, I am in the process of designing a new edition of the site and will make a post about it soon :-)

Corkboard/About me page updated

Recently, I have changed my "About me" page to resemble a corkboard, with notes displaying things like fanlistings, facts about me, webrings and more! I thought that this would be a fun and unique way to showcase who I am, rather than a huge paragraph of text talking about myself. I made a newletter post about it last week, but I have finished it and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out! (ﾉ◕ヮ◕)ﾉ*:･ﾟ✧ The background image is made by me in photoshop, and the thumbtack pngs are made by me in Aseprite, my favourite pixel art software. Oh, I also made the paper note backgrounds as well in photoshop, I have a tumblr post about it Here. I will probably continue working on the page, adding new things and making it look better overall, but at the moment I will keep it as it.
Another recent addition is I changed the list images on my homepage to be cute little icons, mostly relating to the corrosponding link. I didn't make these but found them on an old sozai site and resized them.

Newsletter, backgrounds, phonebook + more

  • This weeks update, I added a newletter page to document my updates to the site, and the previous versions of the website's themes.
  • I updated my About me page, turning it into a cork-board styled page with a grid layout, to showcase my photos, information about me, and more (it is not fully finished yet and will still need further editing).
  • I created the Phonebook, a page where you can contact me, link my site buttons, and check out other sites that I love. Basically a link-in/link-out page :-)
  • Minor tweaks: I also adjusted the backgrounds slightly, and added unique backgrounds for Shrine page and Diary. I added tooltips (in javascript) to hover over certain links, giving them a brief description. I swapped the status cafe box with a cute little png (Kereha from SHUFFLE!) talking with a speech bubble. I'm really proud of this cause it took like ages to code properly T_T....I also edited the site borders and colours slightly, changing the bg from blue to cream, and making the borders different colours on the homepage rather than brown. Font changed from MS Gothic to MS UI Gothic!

    Awesome webamp + new additions

    I feel like I breathed new life into my site with this latest update! I added cute borders around the main page, (finally) revamped the index page, created a new site background instead of the old tacky one which was a random picture from pinterest lol, oh and I added a new page: "Artbook", where I showcase different assets and images etc that I have designed for the site! This includes current and old, as theres soooo much stuff I've designed and then never used, or abandoned quickly. I've spent countless hours making all this stuff so I thought, why not at least show it off (ﾉ´ヮ`)ﾉ*: ･ﾟ Oh, and I can't forget the most exciting update - I added a webamp to my homepage!! This took soooo fricken long to figure out and set up, but I'm really happy with how it turned out!! I added a few songs from various visual novels and video games to match the theme of my site, I think they sound so cool. And I hope you love the addition as much as I do, because I was so close to giving up (I'm no good with javascript lol)... I'm planning to design a custom skin for my webamp, but for the moment I have been cycling through a few different skins and settled on this plain yellow one, as a temporary placeholder. Hopefully. Other minor additions include a marquee footer for my homepage, changed the element borders from solid to dashed lines, minor element sizing fixes, and general maintainence.
